A few tips to keep your pets sane and happy during the holidays

The holidays are often hectic but that doesn’t mean your pets have to put up with it. Here are a few tips to keep your pet jolly!

  • Wear them out ahead of time. 30-90 minutes of exercise can make all the difference between a wound up barkypants and a mellow pup.
  • Create their Zen – Set aside some room just for them and make sure only you and a chosen few keep an eye on them. The idea is for them to have a sanctuary amid the commotion, so maybe turn on some ambient noise or some soft jams, maybe their favorite TV channel, and curate a vibe.
  • Speaking of soft jams, make sure they are soft! Holidays can be full of loud noises so it’s best to temper the human noise as best we can. The neighbors aren’t the only ones you should be cognizant of while partying; your pets have sensitive hearing and the last thing you want to do is rattle them.
  • Give them something to entertain themselves within their sanctum. Puzzle games, snuffle mats, and Kong toys with frozen xylitol-free peanut butter will all provide hours of fun and a long lasting treat.
  • Do some research on calming products and find a good fit for your fur baby. Calming aids include a wide variety of edibles, tinctures, aromatherapy, pheromones, garments, and even cheese.
  • As a precautionary measure, make sure all the human food is unobtainable. That includes the trash – It’s all treasure to your pets but it’s no fun when they make a massive mess or worse; they eat something harmful.

Stay safe and sane, everyone! Happy holidays!
